2 minute read

Getting your kids out into the fresh air doesn’t need to be a tough task, especially in winter. Getting them gardening is a great way to detach from technology and get out of the house. We have some super handy tips you can use to get your kids excited about gardening!

Get comfy in your shed, here are some great tips you can use right away!

Growing - Growing their own food and then later being able to make it into something fun is a great way to get kids excited and out in the fresh air.

Space - Give your kids their own space in the garden. Giving them their own patch is a great way of giving them freedom of what they want to plant.

Decorate - Make some fun windmills and grab some exciting items to decorate their patch with!

Tools - Get your kids their own watering can, gloves and anything else they might need! Let them choose what they want and they can wear it later.

Book - Keep a wildlife book, grab stickers of animals and every time they see an animal like a hedgehog in the garden, they can add a sticker!

Easy - It’s important to start easy with the plants you’re choosing. If the plant dies, or it takes too long to grow, your child might become bored.

Basics - Don’t forget to teach your child the basics, teach them about overwatering plants, where they grow best and all about getting rid of dead leaves.

Time of year - Consider what time of year it’s best to start. Summer might be difficult since plants need extra care, but Winter can be tough with plants freezing over. Try Autumn or Spring!

Seeds - Let your kids choose their own seeds, this will make them excited to plant the seed and see what it grows into.

Pictures - Get your kids to take pictures each week, print them out and put them into a gardening book. In a few years' time, your kids can look back at all of their hard work!

That’s it, they’re all of our handy tips to help you get your kids into gardening!
